'Finale': the closing chords of the cue, the last music of the film

An A♭ minor chord sitting over a D in the bass. D and A♭ are a tritone apart, the most unstable distance in Western harmony, so the bass and the chord above it seem to pull in opposite directions. Herrmann ends Psycho on it, so the film closes without any feeling of home.

Also called Psycho Finale, A♭m/D (as the score spells it)
