FamousKeith Richards ChordStart Me Up, 1981 · Keith Richards (The Rolling Stones)

The first chord of Start Me Up; the same two-finger move over a barre runs through many open-G Stones riffs

In open G, one finger across the fret makes a major chord; add two fingers a fret or two higher and you get this chord, a C with the fourth (F) and sixth (A) in place of the third. It is really an F chord sitting on the C barre, so rocking between the two gives a I to IV movement with almost no effort. Keith Richards uses it to open Start Me Up and in the riffs of Brown Sugar and Honky Tonk Women.
