Seven neighbouring notes sound at once. The trombones creep in with C, D, E and F sharp, then the horns add G, A and B right on top, filling in every note of the C Lydian scale inside a single octave. The cluster grows from a whisper to a roar over the black screen at the start of The Matrix and breaks into the first shot of the green code. Heckman calls these scale clusters the 'human' sound of the score; the machines get chromatic clusters instead.
